Read an article in the paper today about a divorced man who once donated one of his kidneys to his ex-wife and now wants it back. Otherwise he wants the wife to pay him £1 million in compensation.
I don't know who is to be blamed for the divorce but obviously something big must've happened for them to go as far as getting a divorce. The thing that bothers me is how can two people who were in love (I'm assuming they were in love 'coz otherwise he wouldn't have given up his kidney for any random person plus the fact they got married..clearly there must've been something similar to love between them) turn so distant that they have to get a divorce and even develop this hatred for the other person to ask for an organ back. An organ which could be the only thing keeping the other person alive. Keeping in mind this is the person they loved. Waait...is there even such a thing as "loved" ...surely if you love someone you love them forever ..How can it be in past tense.. How can that love turn into the exact opposite?
Betrayal is one thing.... there is nothing that should be valued more than loyalty and honesty to each other in a marriage but does that mean you instantly start hating them? So much that it wouldn't matter to you whether they live or die? ..Sure it hurts, you probably wouldn't want to see their face ever again ....but would you really hate them? ..Hate is... just.. too strong of an emotion. That too for a person you once chose to spend your lifetime with...............
I hope I never have to find out. =/

Wow, that's crazy. I really hope he can't seriously take the organ back OR get compensation for it. That's pretty messed up on his part :/ Maybe she did something awful, who knows, but you're right... Seeing someone you once loved enough to give them a part of yourself die? I wouldn't have the heart no matter what they did. May Allah SWT never allow us to taste such bitterness and resentment for a spouse, ameen.
